The incident took place around 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17, when multiple shots fired were detected by Shotspotter in Bridgeport in the area of 843 Connecticut Avenue, 480 Bunnell Street and 1498 Central Avenue, said Bridgeport Capt. Brian Fitzgerald.
Officers quickly converged on this area and spotted a red Toyota Venza fleeing the scene. The vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated, Fitzgerald said.
The pursuit began on the east side of Bridgeport and the fleeing vehicle then entered Route 8 southbound and then I-95 northbound.
Bridgeport Police pursued the vehicle to exit 36 on Interstate 95 and were then called off by a supervisor, he added.
Information on the wanted vehicle was relayed to neighboring law enforcement agencies and Milford Police located the suspect vehicle unoccupied on Claudia Lane on the Milford/ Orange border.
An extensive search involving Bridgeport Police, Milford Police, Orange Police, and the Connecticut State Police was initiated, but the suspects were able to elude capture, Fitzgerald said.
During the pursuit, a gunshot victim arrived at Bridgeport Hospital and was treated for a gunshot wound to the neck.
The 23-year-old male victim is expected to survive.
Detectives are processing several crime scenes and are working to identify those responsible for the shootings, he added.
Anyone with information is asked to call Bridgeport Police at 203-576-TIPS.
Bridgeport Police would like to thank Milford Police, Orange Police and the Connecticut State Police for their assistance.
